Rub Away The Pain With This Easy DIY Balm!

2:43 AM

Every now and then we experience pains and aches due to over exertion or because of an intense workout. The first thing that comes in our mind to soothe this pain is Zandu Balm (if you are not a medicine lover!). You don’t really have to run out to the store for sealed balms or pain-relief heating pads. Instead, you can make your own balm at home.

Pain relief creams and ointments are not cheap, and I don’t even believe that they leave a long lasting effect. So, I did some research and came up with my own DIY pain balm. And trust me, it’s very very simple. Once you start making and using it, I bet you will never go back to the store-bought stuff. I just love this wonderful recipe.

Here’s What You Need:

  1. A boiled egg (well, we don’t need a complete egg, only yolk will do! You can eat the rest!)
  2. 2 cups of vegetable oil (any oil – olive oil or any other oil will do)
  3. Half a cup of beeswax

Step – By – Step Instructions To Prepare The Balm:

  • Pour 2 cups of vegetable oil in a pan and add half a cup of beeswax in it.
  • Place the pan on the burner with the heat set on low.
  • Once the solution starts to crackle, crush the egg yolk and add it to the mixture.
  • Soon it will start to foam, so be prepared to remove the pan from the heat quickly.
  • Once the oil simmers down, put the pan back to the heat and keep stirring it constantly.
  • Now the colour of mixture should change and turn into dark brown.
  • Remove it from heat and let it set for half an hour.
  • Strain the mixture with gauze and throw away the crumbs of yolk.
  • Once it cools down, fill it in a jar.

Once it cools down, fill it in a jar.

If you want the balm to be harder, add more beeswax. Similarly, if you want it softer, use a lesser amount of beeswax. Basically, what I mean to say is you can change the consistency of the balm by determining the amount of beeswax that goes into it.

Voila! Your balm is ready to use! Bonus – You can store it in your refrigerator for more than 10 months. This is an easy and quick recipe to experiment with!

How To Use It?

You can use this DIY-balm in multiple ways and for numerous reasons.

  • If you are suffering from a sinus infection, then melt a teaspoon of balm and drip 2 to 3 drops into your nose. It will effectively pull out the manure by itself and heal  the sinus.

  • If you have ulcers or if you are suffering with bronchitis, consume it thrice a day before each meal. Best and natural way to cure bronchitis!
