Decoding Gone Girl Rosamund Pike’s Red Carpet Look

4:29 AM

With a filmography that boasts of diversity, this English beauty is an epitome of womanhood. She barely looks 36, and her tall persona boasts of extreme grace and confidence. This pretty actress looks flawless each time she makes an appearance. Here is deconstructing her look from the red carpet of the SAG awards. She looks extremely elegant, in what seems like such a simple makeup routine. Take a look and see what went into creating that lovely look.

The Pre-Make Up Skincare:

The first step to achieving any beautiful look is getting the skin ready. Therefore, her makeup artist used Sisley’s Sisleya Essential Lotion to tone the face. She then used a spray, Sisley’s Floral Mist. It gives a revitalizing and reviving glow to the skin. She then applied an eye contour mask and left it on for about ten minutes to reduce any puffiness and dark circles.

She then used two drops of Sisley Black Rose Precious Face Oil mixed with Sisley Hydra Global, and applied it for a hydrated and nourished looking skin. The skin looks smooth and glossy, but it doesn’t get oily with these products. She then finished prepping Pike’s skin by applying a thick layer of Sisley Nutritive Lip Balm, which she left on until it was time to smear on the lipstick.

Caring For The Complexion:

Now that Rosamund’s skin was ready, her makeup artist used Make Up Forever’s Skin Equalizer Mattifying Primer. She then sprayed on a little bit of the floral mist she used earlier onto a beauty blender to even out the foundation (Make Up Forever HD Foundation). She used the feathering technique to achieve a perfectly blended out foundation. She then used a powder to set the foundation through. She used a combination of Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Multi-Color, along with Make Up Forever Microfinish Powder in a medium tone so that the face wouldn’t look too powdery.

Next, she used a peach based concealer to hide the dark circles. She used Sisley Phyto Cernes Eclat #2. This product has a metal tip that, apparently, feels extremely cool on the eye bags and also decongests the heavy product into smooth application. To finish off, she used Chanel Bronze Universal and contoured with it. To add some color to the cheeks, she used a Make Up Forever HD Blush in a Peachy Pink to give a light peaches and cream glow to Pike’s skin.

The Enigmatic Eyes:

The eyes were the focus of this look. The technique she used was to give a soft wash of color and leave the rest to light-catching shadows. She used Make Up Forever Aqua Matic Eyeshadow Pencil in Metallic Golden Taupe and smudged it over Pike’s eyes, from the crease to both the top and bottom lash lines. Next, to define the crease, she used Chanel’s Quadra Eyeshadow in Prelude. Being a lighter color, she highlighted the brow and the inner corner of the eye to make the eyes look more opened up.

Then came the mascara and Pike’s makeup artist used two products. First, she curled the eyebrows, and then used Chanel’s Inimitable Mascara, in brown, on the bottom lashes. For the top, she used Make Up Forever Smoky Lash, in black. She made it a point to cover any blondness, and therefore, went as close to the base of the lash as possible. Doing this also created a deeper look.

Luscious Lips:

Describing what she called the “focal point” of the look, the lips, Pike’s makeup artist states that she wanted very fun lips that acted like a pop of color on the face. She always fills the lip with a pencil, so it gives a nice, strong base for the application of the lipstick. She used a matte texture so that it would last long after the first appearance at the red carpet. She used a Make Up Forever Aqua Lip Waterproof Lip Liner Pencil in 25C Orange Red, and topped it up with Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet Luminous Matte Lip Color in La Petillante.

Now, you know the effort that goes into a ravishing red carpet look! It took all of twenty products and an hour and a quarter to get the beautiful Rosamund Pike ready for the event. So much for beauty and glamor!
