10 Unique Ways To Apply Kohl You Have To Know

They say lipstick is the fastest way to glam up. I disagree! I think that the lovely bold black line rimming the water line can brighten up your face, and enhance those sparkling eyes like no other. Kajal is one of those versatile cosmetics that could be used to deck up your eyes in many ways. A stark black line suits almost every complexion, so there is never the hassle of trying and testing. It is easy on everyone’s pocket, and the only choice you have to make is whether you want it smudge-proof or not.

Having said so much about my favorite cosmetic, here is a list of ten different ways you can use it:

1. The Basics:

Pulling that beautiful dark black crease on your waterline is the basic method of applying Kohl. It is quick and easy, and quite enough to look glamorous. This no-frills-attached method of using Kohl finds its roots in the Protodynastic period of Egypt (3100 BCE) where the queens and the noble women wore it. It was originally used to protect the eyes against ailments and the harsh rays of the sun.

2. Bold & Dark:

This is the way I love to wear my Kohl. It definitely gives your eyes more depth and character. When you draw in black, not just over your waterline, but also thickly under your lower lashes, your eyes are sure to look a lot bolder. It adds that extra oomph giving you a subtly sexy look. Too much, without doing too much!

3. Over The Lash:

For the formal, business suit look, just highlighting the upper lash line with a kohl pencil seems just right! Simple yet stunning, this is a quick way to make that lasting impression.

4. Under The Lash:

And then there are those days when you are in no mood to put in any effort to look good. You are bored and lazy, and yet you can’t look like a ‘drab queen’. Solution? Just lining your lower lash line with kajal, and adding a dab of lip-gloss will give you a refreshing change to your already pretty face.>

5. Winged Eyes:

The look of the 70s is back! The winged-eye is uber-stylish. Just pulling the bold black line on your upper lash line a little upward does the trick. This style gives an illusion of your eyes being tilted upwards.

6. Double Winged Eyes:

For those extra-special occasions, when your looks can make or break, the double winged eye can be your knight in shining armor. You already know how the winged eye works, but this time, the lower lash line also needs to be extended into a slight curve, such that there are two lines on the edges of your eyes. You will need some practice before you master the art of the double winged eye. But trust me – the effort is absolutely worth it!

7. Smokey Eyes:

This one is a classic. It is almost a synonym for looking hot. And just when you’ve run out of black eyeshadow, the Kohl pencil comes to your rescue. All you need is your favorite Kajal and petroleum jelly. Line up your eyelids with Kajal, and then smudge using petroleum jelly. You can dab a little powder over it to matte it out. It works wonderfully.

8. Doe–Re-Me:

Petite and pretty, this style of applying kohl blunts out the bold black, beautifully. It can be achieved quite easily – draw a crease on your upper and lower lash lines, and join in a ‘U’ at the edge of your eye. This look is for those days when you want to look simply pretty.

9. The Starks:

When you need your eyes to be the center of attraction, all you got to do is use a little amount of white eyeshadow on your lids and under eyes, and then draw two bold black angular creases on your lower and upper lash lines. There you go, bright, stark eyes, simply using Kohl!

10: Goth–a–lina:

Dark eyeshadow and bold black lines of Kohl are what define the Gothic eyes! This is a cult style of makeup. Some love it, some hate it, but when you own a Kohl Pencil, absolutely any style is achievable.

The eyes shout what the lips fear to say. So make sure you keep them bright and sparkling always!
