The Best Way To Air Dry Your Hair At Any Length!
12:14 AMIn today’s hush-hush lifestyle of late nights, early mornings, and endless last-minute jobs, the “towel-off-and-run” gig for your locks doesn’t seem to fit in anymore. Then how are you supposed to enter your office or a party without those dripping wet ringlets? Moreover, every hairstylist vows that constant blow-drying damages your locks.
But hey, worry not! We have come up with a way to air dry your lovely tresses without damaging them, which can also cut down the drying time while keeping your hair tangle-free!
1. Wash Your Hair Overnight:
Washing your hair overnight leaves an ample amount of time for it to dry while you sleep.
If you remove excess water from your hair, it will dry faster. Use your hands to squeeze as much water as you can prior to using a towel to dry your hair. Starting from the back of your head, gather your hair together with your hands and squeeze the water from your hair as you move down the length of your hair. Excess water will automatically run off the ends of your hair.
2. Blot Your Hair With A Towel:
Taking your hair from being wet to getting damp is quite easy. Select a high absorbent towel, or you can also go with an old 100% cotton T-shirt. As the surface of the cloth is smoother, there will be less friction between your hair and the cloth. Wet hair gets easily damaged as compared to dry hair. So, avoid rubbing as it results into split ends, frizz, and damage.
The biggest mistake you can make while drying your hair is using a rough back and forth movement with your towel. Doing so causes more damage to your hair. You do not have to run the towel up and down the hair shaft; just squeeze gently and release and then move further down to the next portion. For maximum effectiveness, use the dry portion of your towel or the T-shirt. By this stage, you would have dried 50-60% of your hair.
3. Use A Wide-Toothed Comb:
Use a wide-toothed comb to brush your hair. A wide-toothed comb protects wet hair from breakage. Start from the ends of your hair, and with every next stroke, move upwards until you reach the roots. This will help in removing the tangles.
Run your fingers through your hair starting from the scalp and then slide down to the ends. This will allow air to work through your hair and decrease the drying time. It also adds some volume to your hair. Now your hair is ready for the sealing products.
Make sure not to slide your fingers roughly, as doing so will result in tangles!
4. Fight Frizz With Leave-In Conditioners:
Apply a leave–in conditioner or a detangler that is suitable for your hair type, so as to give a healthy and shiny look to your hair. However, it’s best to just lift the hair at the roots, loosen it up around the crown, part it where you want, and then leave it to dry. You can skip the volumizing products as they are designed for heat styling. Remember that the more you play around with your hair, the more you will ruin it.
If you have short hair, you can just apply a leave–in conditioner that will add some shine to your hair, and then let it dry naturally after combing it in the way you want it to go.
If you have long and curly hair, attaching a diffuser to your blow-dryer is the quickest way to dry your hair because curly hair takes a lot of time to dry. The best way is to wash it at night and let your hair dry naturally by leaving it free (after you have applied the conditioner).
TIP: Don’t wrap the towel around your head too tightly. Go for a gentle wrap instead.
If you want to dry your hair within an hour, you can rely on your blow-dryers (though nothing beats the natural method of drying your hair).
So ladies, how do you dry your hair?
