How To Use Hydrogen Peroxide For Ear Colds?
5:58 AMAre you suffering from cold and flu? Wondering what you can do about it? Well, hydrogen peroxide is one answer – all you got to do is add it to your ear.
Thinking how that can make any difference? Read this post to know more.
Using Hydrogen Peroxide In The Ears:
Using hydrogen peroxide in the ears has given quite excellent results. In fact, it has been known to work effectively 4 out of 5 times, especially if you use it when you experience the early symptoms. In 1928, it was hypothesized by Dr. Richard Simmons that flu virus and colds entered the body through the ear canal. Ten years later in Germany, researchers found that they were able to use hydrogen peroxide successfully for the treatment of colds and flu. Studies also indicate that hydrogen peroxide can be useful in the treatment of influenza (1).
Using Hydrogen Peroxide In the Ears:
As mentioned earlier, using hydrogen peroxide for the treatment of flu and colds works best at the earliest stage, when symptoms first start to appear. When you use this antiseptic within 12 to 14 hours, you will experience quick relief. All that is required is a few drops of 3% hydrogen peroxide into the infected ear, or ears (there are times when only one ear is infected).
Once the hydrogen peroxide is administered, it starts to work within 2 to 3 minutes, killing the cold or flu virus. It is safe to use, provided it is done properly. You will most likely experience a little bubbling sensation, and in a very few cases, there is a slight stinging sensation as well.
You need to wait for 5 to 10 minutes for the bubbling or stinging sensation to stop. After that, you need to tilt your head to allow the liquid to drain out into a tissue. Repeat the process in the other ear.
To use hydrogen peroxide as a cure, you will need to repeat the treatment process two times or more at intervals of 1 or 2 hours. Once you do not experience any more bubbling in your ears, you can stop the treatment.
Is The Treatment Safe For Children?
Because hydrogen peroxide is quite strong, many people avoid using it on children. However, as mentioned earlier, as long as you use it properly, it is safe even for little ones. The only problem is that the bubbling (which can get quite loud) and stinging sensations can frighten them. If you are going to use it on children, make sure that you are calm and gentle so that they are not frightened by the experience.
Why Use Hydrogen Peroxide In The Ears:
As already mentioned, Dr. Richard Simmons developed the hypothesis that viruses that cause the flu and colds enter the body through the ears, and not the eyes, nose or mouth as believed by many people. The medical community at the time dismissed his findings.
When you think about it, you will see how Dr. Simmons’ findings make sense. The viruses that cause these illnesses are microscopic and can spread through the air. This means that they could land in or on our ears, just as they would on any other part of the body. Once they enter the ear canal, they can start to breed and from this part of the ear, they can start to spread throughout the body and infect it, making us sick.
By using hydrogen peroxide in your ears, you make sure to destroy the viruses at the starting point before they can get to other parts of the body and infect you. As you now know, in 1938, German researchers found that this antiseptic could effectively cure the flu and colds when it was administered in the ears. For decades, their findings were ignored, but now, more people are coming to realize that using hydrogen peroxide in the ears is one of the best methods to cure common colds and the flu successfully.
