7 Simple Steps To Do A Funeral Makeup

7:35 AM

Do you have to attend a close friend or family’s funeral and are wondering whether to skip on makeup? Obviously, a funeral is a somber occasion where your red lipstick or metallic smokey eyes have no place. But you can spruce yourself up a little, and touch up your face here and there. The key is to keep it simple, and the ‘no-makeup’ makeup is appropriate for a funeral.

Would you like to know how to get the funeral makeup? Then you must read this post.

1. Cover And Tint:

There are two ways you can do your base for this minimal makeup. One option is to use concealer and tinted moisturizer. Use a concealer sparingly to hide dark circles that are inevitable if you are going to a funeral. Don’t try to cover each and every blemish, only those that will appear through the moisturizer. For the tinted moisturizer, chose one with SPF 50 (because you will be standing out in the sun), and of a shade closest to your skin. Apply it on your face, neck and hands.

2. Primer And Foundation:

If you want to go with foundation, prepare your skin by applying a primer all over your face. Now draw four to five lines of foundation on your cheekbones, forehead, nose and chin respectively. With your finger, smudge and blend the foundation away from these lines so that it is concentrated on these areas of your face. It helps contouring your face without additional makeup.

3. Just Puff It:

To prevent the shine of the base makeup, lightly puff a bit of translucent powder all over your face. It gives a matte look and also sets the minimal makeup.

4. Peachy Flush:

Skip the bronzer and opt for a light, peach-colored blush. It gives your face some warmth. Dot the apples of your cheeks with the blush and using a large brush, blend it towards the temple. If you are using a bronzer, apply a very tiny amount of bronzing powder on the edge of the cheekbones and smudge with the brush towards your nose. Again, the blush or bronzer is just there to add some warmth to your face. Use minimal amount and dust off the excess powder.

5. No-Shadow Tight-Lining:

For your eyes, skip the shadow if you have used a primer. If you have used a concealer, it may look a little pale. In that case, brush a line of medium neutral brown into the crease above your eye. Now smudge this line with a contour brush to impart a natural look. For the eyeliner, instead of drawing above your lashes, draw the line through your lashes. This is called tight-lining and makes your eyes look brighter without looking made-up. Dip the mascara brush into the bottle, take it out, and pass it through a tissue to remove the excess product. Now brush your lashes with this to complete your minimal eye makeup.

6. Nude Lip:

For your lips, ditch the bold colors. You can use a pastel shade lip butter and be done with it. If you want to apply a nude or light-colored lipstick, first cover your lips in a balm. Now using a nude lip liner, trace the outline of your lip. Fill in the lipstick of the same nude color as the liner. Pink or peach lipsticks work best with this natural makeup.

7. Waterproof It:

Funerals are a sad occasion. To say the final goodbye to your loved ones is painful and a tearful experience. Prepare to pay tribute with tears by wearing waterproof makeup. Mascara, liner, foundation – these are all found in waterproof variants. Buy them for all occasions because not only will they prevent makeup streaked cheeks in funerals, but also hold shape well in sweltering hot days.

A funeral is no day to overdo your makeup. It is very important that you exercise immense care on a day that is meant to mourn. These tips will make you look dignified and not overly done.
