4 Beach Makeup Tricks Every Woman Should Know

12:29 AM

Pop group of the nineties may have risen to fame with the Ace of Base cover version of the song Cruel Summer, but the singers Jonas, Jenny, Linn, and Ulf (core band members) have been known for their flawless summer looks and healthy skin too.

On that note, if you want to look all the way beautiful even while enjoying at the beach during the hot summers, then you wouldn’t want to miss this post!

They Aren’t Indian, You Say:

Indian or not, you too could sport healthy glowing skin, should you choose to. And which part of the world hasn’t been hit badly with the dreary vagaries of nature? World famous and expert makeup artists, dermatologists and dieticians or nutritionists would emphasize on a healthy skin-care routine and makeup too.

Maintaining The Look For The Beach:

While the winds blow harsh, dry and humid, you may want to choose makeup routines that not only suit the climate, but are friendly to the skin tone too. Here are a few ways to catch up with the Ace of Base girls and the guy too, yes! Men too need a little touch up to beat the cruel summer invasion!

1. No Foundation Please:

Surprised? Don’t be! The reason the heavy creamy layers of foundation shouldn’t be the norm when at the beach is it brings out imperfections rather than the flawless touch. If you really would need coverage for the skin, choosing a moisturizer, light tinted and with a creamy concealer, would be the best!

2. Choose The Right Mascara:

Needless to say, long-lasting, and the one that doesn’t smudge too. Not both the lashes, the top lash alone should be dolled up for the beach look. The reason the bottom lash shouldn’t have mascara doses is when you walk out like a diva from the salty sea waters, the lash below plays havoc and stains the area around the eyes.

3. Peaches And Blushes:

Peach shades are the best for summers – vibrant and lively. Peach over pink for summers on the beach is the best we can recommend for Indian skin! This is because the skin does turn a shade of red under the playful act of the sun. Peach helps neutralize the color tone and brightens the skin complexion as well.

4. Pamper The T-Zone:

Imagine glittering like a Christmas tree at the beach and under the sun! All eyes would be on you for sure; for the wrong reasons, that too! Shiny, shimmery powders are a no-no for sure, and they are heavy for the skin to breathe. Start by using blotting paper to absorb all the oil from the T-Zone and bring about a matte touch, before applying anything!

Want A Fake Tan And Not A Real One?

Most of us really aren’t too happy about the ingredients used in ‘tanning lotions’ and ‘sun tan blocking agents’, which is why resorting to the idea of a ‘fake tan’ works like magic. Have you seen Lady Gaga and her tan? Should you choose to ‘fake tan’ on your own, here are a few tips!

  1. Exfoliate, wax and granulate with a reputed loofah scrub a day before the tanning is done.
  2. Pay attention to areas that are the driest.
  3. Use a wet facial wipe around the wrist, the neck, the face, and the shoulder bones; it cleanses the skin and absorbs the new tan too.
  4. Follow the instructions when DIY methodology is used.
  5. Every single part of the body should be mapped into zones.
  6. Each map would be tanned one stage at a time.
  7. Start from the forehead, the face and the neck.
  8. Go to the arms and the chest.
  9. Next the stomach and the back.
  10. Finally the legs and hands, all the way to the feet and the rear side of the palms.

What To Remember!

  1. When using a fake tan to the body, the tone for the rest of the body should be lighter (slightly) than the other parts where the tan is applied.
  2. Before applying the tan, apply an ice cube to close open pores. Fake tan exposes the open pores more than anything else, giving you an undesirable look.
  3. When tanning the hands and the feet, it would be wise to use surplus application of the tan from the legs and arms over the feet and hands.
  4. To achieve a dark tan, you would need around eight to ten hours. Lighter shades would need half a morning – 6 hours max.
  5. Do moisturize your skin daily, which helps keep the tan strong and shining.
  6. Never tan every 15-20 days, it will build-up, and that looks undesirable!
