3 Elegant Boho Wedding Makeup Tips

Wedding is something most girls have dreamt about since they were little girls. And if you’re a bride who is walking on the beach instead of the aisle, your makeup for the big day should reflect your Haute-hippie side. If you are the one struggling with “What could be trickier than deciding on bridal makeup?”, then let us step in and help you.

While we can’t help you with wedding destinations, the dress or the hairstyle you pick, we can guarantee that we have picked a perfect makeup look that is true to a bohemian style. So, from the sultry shade shadow to that of-the-moment lip color, read ahead as we picked our favorite boho look and products for your big day. Make sure you add a beautiful handmade flower crown – hippie-chic.

1. Radiant Glow (For The Face):

Natural-leaning brides will absolutely love this look; fresh, glowing and romantic, if done right, this super-flattering makeup will be soft and strong that would work particularly well for a spring wedding.

The skin looks hyper-perfect, but if you are planning to stick to a single tone, it can fall flat. While it all depends on a woman’s skin tone, start your makeup by preparing your skin by moisturizing and concealing it. You can skip the foundation for that barely-there beauty look. Add a lightweight and long-lasting bronzer to emphasize cheekbones, like Guerlain Terracotta Bronzing Powder, and get a radiant looking skin without looking overdone.

Once done with your base makeup, apply a peachy pink blush on your cheeks. Pink usually looks gorgeous on all skin tones, and we prefer this vibrant and youthful Beach Tint in Watermelon shade. Remember not to be afraid with a darker shade of blush, just blend the colors well.

2. Electric Eyes:

To get your eye makeup right, start with preparing your eyes with a light and creamy primer (Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer), followed by a Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream Eyes concealer, just in case you want to fill in the blemishes.

Now, we believe Smokey eye is like this Little Black Dress of the Bridal makeup world we all crave for: it’s whimsical, flattering, and classic. We also believe that when it comes to smokey eyes, black is predictable and a bit boring. So instead, we suggest a pop of shaded blue in gem tones (like, Nars Matte Eyeshadow In Outremer) for a beautiful twist. If that is not enough, add a hint of shimmer pink (we recommend Stila Nouveau Natural Eye Shadow Palette) in the outer corners of your bottom lash.

Tip: Remember that eye shadows containing large glitter particles can reflect a bit too much. Stick to soft shimmer – classy and definitively bridal.

Once done, cover your lashes with thick, well-defined and, of course, waterproof mascara (Blinc Kiss Me Mascara) in a zigzag motion.

3. L(ip)ove Story:

On the other hand, for your lips, we agree red or nude shades are fine, but bold coral lips are downright daring. The shade adds just the right contrast against a gorgeous dress and is a perfect accompaniment to a matte skin.

To get the pop of color right, take a toothbrush to buff away dead skin and begin exfoliating your flaky lips. Once done, nourish them by applying lip balm. Blot any excess balm with a tissue paper and apply like MAC Prep + Prime Lip over them. Now line your lips with a creamy lip liner, like the Votre Vu’s Dramatic Lip Liner, which will create a clean definition around your lips and help your lip color last longer. Once your lips are perfectly lined, finish off the look by painting on your lips with a rich coral lip color.

Tip: Set your lipstick by holding a tissue paper over your lips, and with the help of a brush, dust translucent powder on.

So there you have it – fresh but that oh-so-pretty boho bridal makeup. With barely-there makeup, coral lips and sultry eyes (seriously), a lovely white gown becomes merely a happy addition.
