You’ve been lying on the bed since an hour, but still, you cannot go to sleep. Maybe because you’re worried about the tough day at work tomorrow, or about the pending assignment that had to be finished at any cost but you couldn’t. You spend another hour thinking about it, and then, there comes a time when you realize it’s really late, and you have to get up early tomorrow. You tell yourself that it’s futile worrying about tomorrow. Instead, you should go and sleep. But does this help? Are you really able to fall asleep after you have convinced yourself to shut your eyes and go to bed? No, right?

Don’t worry. We all have been through that phase. Though the tensions vary, the feeling is the same, and that feeling is known as anxiety.

We all try to cope with anxiety in our own way, but does it work everytime? Well, we have good news for you! There is something that can help you out in this situation. Something that is very simple and very effective and will fill your mind and thoughts with positivity.

I came to know about this trick when I consulted my family doctor. He taught me some simple breathing exercises that would help me cope with anxiety. Initially, I thought I was wasting my time consulting him and even thought of approaching an expert. But, after a few days of practice, I was shocked by the results. It was then that I started focussing on my breath rate. I focussed more on small and deep breaths that helped calm my nervous system down and lessen my anxiety.

Here’s how you can calm yourself. Just try this simple trick – keep your right hand on your abdomen and your left hand on your chest. Now, take slow and deep breaths for at least five minutes. While doing so, try to keep your mind blank. Even if you wish to think of something, do not think about your problems. Instead, think about what makes you happy. After doing this, trust me, you will definitely feel better.

Try this method out and let me know whether it worked for you or not. You can share your views in the comments box below.
