This Grocery Store Gave “Ugly” Fruit And Veggies Their Own Aisle. Watch What Happens

When was the last time you threw a meal from your fridge? Easy to answer, right? Must be last night. Every day millions of people throw out cooked meals and rotten fruits and vegetables. If you think this is a practice followed only at homes, you are mistaken. Not only do restaurants throw out extra food, but supermarkets and grocery stores also get rid of food, fruits, vegetables, and greens.

Instead of trying to curb this habit, people are becoming more and more comfortable with throwing away food, and claiming these actions are based on a decision made to stay healthy and eat healthy. Hence, any produced food item that has any type of deformity finds its way into the wet garbage bag.

It is unbelievable that one-third of the food produce around the world is thrown away, solely based on the way it looks. This means that absolutely safe and healthy fruits and vegetables are discarded just because they don’t look appealing and are never displayed in stores.

In such times, you only need one pioneer to make a difference, so that the rest can follow. Intermarché is a French supermarket chain, and they have revolutionized the way supermarkets sell food produce.
They decided to solve the problem of deformed produce being wasted, but little did they know it would gain them so much popularity and success.

Below is a video that demonstrates the brilliance of the store and their new idea.

Not only did they see a 24% increase in foot traffic, but it changed the graph of their business too. The store created special and unique branding for these “ugly” fruits and vegetables and changed the way people looked at them. The French media is suggesting that every supermarket should follow their lead.
