Try This No-Deod Challenge And See What Happens!

2:14 AM

Did you ever decide to do something crazy…and later got stuck with it? Could you stick to it for an entire week? I’ve always been the type of person who keeps on making commitments to do something new and decides to stick with it 100 percent, but fails miserably. This is because my enthusiasm does not last for more than 3 days (Sob!). Whether it’s avoiding junk food, drinking 2 glasses of water early morning, or going for a jog daily (LOL, this will never come true!), I have tried to fulfill all these commitments (there were lots more!) but could not follow them even for a week. But this time, I decided to start something new and stick with it at any cost – and finally, I was successful!

This time my commitment was to do something awful – I decided not to wear a deodrant for a week. My bad luck, I chose the hottest and smelliest week ever to give up the deodrant (still in a dilemma whether it was actually very hot and sweaty or I was the only one feeling like that!).

As many people claim that deodrants and antiperspirants are made up of toxins, I was curious to know what would happen if I skip them and go au-natural. Would it keep everyone away from me because of the body odor? Let’s check out what actually happened after a week:

Monday, Day 1:

Woo, trust me, it was a very sunny day but as it was the first day of my commitment, I was determined not to break it. I went straight ahead to have my shower. I figured that even if I sweat, people would smell my strawberry body wash rather than my body odor. I decided to work from home and sat in front of my air conditioner with my laptop. Aaah, sweat could not reach me there!

Later I realized that there was no food in my house and I was starving. Phooosh – my plan of staying at home didn’t work out. I went out to buy the food. This was the very first day and I had already started sweaty profusely! I rushed back home and perched myself in front of my air conditioner vent – Ahhhh…finally safe again!

Tuesday, Day 2:

By the second day, the odor of my sweat seemed pretty strong and rather overwhelming. Quickly, I took a shower. I lifted my arms to check whether they still stink. But weirdly, I started liking the feeling of not wearing deodrant. My pores were feeling less clogged and it was after years my pits were taking in some fresh air.

Wednesday, Day 3:

I had to attend 2 events on Wednesday – one in the afternoon and the other after work. I started feeling very self-conscious about being close to other people. This was the point where I was unable to judge whether the stronger-than-usual smell was coming from me or if everything around me was stinky!

Thursday, Day 4:

On day four, I started feeling sexy, super empowered and a musky being! My pit skin, which had been troubling me since the last few months (super itchy), was noticeably less irritated now. I apologized to my family for my odor and I do remember that they were denying that they smelt anything bad around me – but I realized that I no longer cared even if they did! As the day went on, I started feeling more confident.

Friday And Saturday, Day 5 And 6:

The next day I woke up and my pits were smelling a lot less than before. I still wonder whether the odor was actually getting subtle or I was getting used to it. Saturday evening, I went out for a walk, and guess what? I didn’t sweat as much as I used to with a deodrant on! That was really an eye-opening change for me – but a temporary one!

Later that night, when I went out with my mother to get ice cream and was walking around, my pits started getting really damp and smelly! In fact, the smell was so strong that even I couldn’t stand the stink! I started feeling discouraged. My mom suggested that I could try rubbing scented oil on my underarms. The idea sounded good and I did as suggested.

Sunday, Day 7:

On Sunday morning, the scented oil fragrance was still lingering…it did not even require a re-application!

By the end of this commitment – or you can say experiment – I decided to throw all my cancer-causing chemicals a.k.a. deodrants into the trash bin and started rubbing scented oils on my pits.

Give this no-deodrant challenge a try, and embrace your sexy odor!
