Negative Emotions Result In The Deterioration Of Our Health – Here Is How!
5:59 AMIt is not surprising that human beings are powerhouses of emotions. The range of emotions is vast and varied, and all these emotions have different effects on the body. With the release of dopamine, serotonin or oxytocin in your body, you tend to feel happy or a surge of positive emotions. And if your body ends up releasing cortisol, you will be transported into the survival mode, with all the negative emotions kicking in. So let’s take a closer look and see what our emotions can do to us. This is going to be life-changing.
Positive And Negative:
Our brain is extremely powerful. In this world of duality, where there is black and white, but also gray, our emotions too can be defined in that way. It is very simple – every small event in our day can kick in major emotions. For example, while you are driving on the road one evening, and someone is coming from the other direction on high beam, it could totally anger you and put you off for the rest of the day. Or, you could just turn your lights on high beam and drive off, feeling no emotions at all. So, while one situation promotes negative emotions, the other is more neutral. It is all your brain’s doing. It is all about perception.
Avoiding The Perceptions:
Think about it! Are they really positive or negative experiences? Or does it depend on your brain’s perceptions? It is our perception of a situation that affects our body to the extent it does. Our brain has the power to affect our body based on what it feels. So, you need to train your mind in such a way that you treat an experience for what it is, and not carry forward the emotion. We must know how negative emotions affect our being. Hippocrates once rightly said, “If someone wishes for good health, one must first ask oneself if he is ready to do away with the reasons for his illness. Only then is it possible to help him.”
The Connection Between The Mind And The Body:
Our mind is extremely powerful and, though the changes are not tangible, the effects of the mind on our body are profound. If our mindset is positive, we can have a healthy and a happy lifestyle. But negative emotions can totally ruin our being, causing us to deteriorate much ahead of our time. Why? Let’s take a look.
Emotions are really bouts of energy that can be stored in the cellular memory of our bodies. Look back into your life. Have you ever experienced a scenario where you have been so emotionally affected that it has left a certain pain behind in some area of your body? My mother, for instance, had chronic pain in her heel, ever since I left home to go to college. This happens because that area of the body still holds that emotional energy, and refuses to let go of it. Take a look at this chart to understand this theory better.
The next time you experience a certain pain or tightness that eventually becomes chronic, it is time to retrospect. Look inside, and examine what has hurt or angered you. There is no doctor or physiotherapist who can help you if you are not willing to let go of those emotions. It is a waste of both time and money. Let go of the fear and pain, and make peace with yourself.
The Power Lies Within:
A study said that the molecules accumulated and exhaled while you verbally express anger, hatred or jealousy, contain toxins that, when collected for about an hour, are enough to kill eighty guinea pigs. Now just imagine what these negative emotions can do to your body!
The power truly lies within you. It totally depends on how you deal with the situations life throws at you. Retrospect, look at the bigger picture. Stop letting little things bog you down. Learn to accept. Learn to forgive and forget. Channelize your energy in positive ways. Stop reacting impulsively. Think about it for two minutes and judge if it is worth putting your being in jeopardy for some situation. Life is beautiful. But it is up to you to make the best of it. Fill your life with positivity and you will notice the world of difference that it makes.
