How To Do Purple Wedding Makeup?

5:14 AM

If there’s a basic rule for wedding makeup, it’s that it should be exactly what you want it to be. And, if you’re not someone who is not into the typical glossy skin with blush-y tones that most of the sites offer, we can understand how frustrating it can be to find some inspiration.

But ladies, that shouldn’t bother you when we are around!

With the world going gaga over all shades of purple this season, we have decided to move away from neutral tones to make way for this bolder look into our beauty book. Here, you’ll find how to create a pretty, smokey purple eye for your big day that shouts “oomph”!

1. Matte-Fied Skin:

Matte-look emphasizes your skin, cheekbones, and the overall structure of your face. So, to achieve this look, start your makeup with prepping your face. Use a cleanser, and follow it by exfoliating, toning (which is optional) and moisturising. The process will take about 20 minutes.

Now, for your flawless foundation application, prime your face with Stila Stay All Day 10-in-1 HD Beauty Balm, $38. Stila is more or less a multi-purpose product – the primer can help you reduce your pore size, control oil, and even hides blemishes. Just dab a small amount before you apply makeup to give your skin a radiant finish.

For a natural-looking complexion, take a pea-size amount of Benefit Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow Makeup, $36, matte foundation. You can use a brush, but we suggest you use your fingers to apply the liquid formula all over your face. Honestly because, you really don’t want your makeup to look heavy and fake, right?

Once done, swipe Lancôme’s all-in-one Blush Subtil Palette, $43, directly onto the apple of your cheek. Remember that two shades often look more natural and will help you add color to your face.

2. Purple Smokey Eyes:

Begin with prepping your eyes with a concealer – try Benefit Cosmetics Fake Up Concealer, $24 – and dab it over your eyelids, lash lines and around your outer and inner corners.

Next apply Revlon Colorstay in Siren, $7.99, as a creme shadow to create a strong silver base for the eyeshadow. Once done, use Shiseido’s Makeup Luminizing Satin Eye Color Trio in VI 308, $33, at the outer corner of your eyelid to smoke up the eye. Blend evenly. You can also use MAC Technakohl Eyeliner in Purple Dash ($14.50) for a more refined but bolder look.

Now take a waterproof, black liquid liner (like the Urban Decay 24 7 Liquid Liner Woodstock, $19) and rim both of your upper and lower lashes. Remember that the goal is to create an almond-shaped cat-eye.

3. Coral Lips:

Finish off the look by curling your lashes with Shiseido Eyelash Curler, $19. Follow this by swiping double coats of Sonia Kashuk Lashify Mascara, $ 6.99, to add that oomph factor.

Tip: Remember that layer metallics or creams on the top can help your eyeshadow stick really well.
Now, as a general rule, the darker your skin, the brighter should be the shade you adopt. If you have lighter skin, you can go for a lighter shade. You can avoid the extremely lighter shade, as this can wash you out.

To master this not-so-subtle lip, begin by applying a lip balm, like Smith’s Minted Rose Balm, $7. Ensure you blot your lips with a tissue after the application. This will help you get rid off any excess lip balm.

Now, line your lips with L’Oreal Paris Colour Riche Lip Liner, Timeless Coral, $8.95 and fill in your lips with it. Once done, take a brush and apply one coat of Tom Ford Beauty Lip Conditioner in Sweet Spot, $49 andArmour Beauty Nina Opaque Gloss, $24, to quickly look pulled together.

Tip: When opting for purple eyeshadow, avoid using the same color family to your lips. Also, avoid extreme lips for the most flattering finish.
