A few exercises can certainly be tried to help treat glaucoma.

Symptoms Of Glaucoma:

  • Redness felt in the eye
  • Vision that is significantly blurred
  • Nauseous feelings and headaches
  • Cornea that is cloudy

Who Is At The Risk Of Developing Glaucoma?

  1. People belonging to certain ethnicities first come under this category. African Americans, Caucasians, Asian Americans could be some. Japanese Americans are also at the risk of developing glaucoma.
  2. Those who have crossed the age of sixty could also develop glaucoma over time.
  3. People suffering from chronic diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure and heart diseases fall under this category.
  4. If someone in your family has glaucoma, there are chances you could develop the condition.
  5. People who have been using certain kinds of drugs for a very long period could end up with glaucoma in the near future.

Following are the eye exercises that can help you deal with or even prevent glaucoma:

1. Flashing:

Flashing is one of the most popular and well-known techniques that will definitely improve your condition over time. It helps in stimulating the tissues located in the anterior chamber of your eye. Such exercises are usually conducted in front of bright light. The room should be dark, whatsoever. Inhale and switch the light on. Exhale again and switch the lights off. The same procedure should be carried out for about thirty minutes per day.

2. Palming:

A second exercise you could try is popularly known as palming. It can be carried out anywhere during any time of the day. It reduces pressure from your eyes and helps you find relief. While performing this exercise, you have to keep your eyes closed by placing your palms on your eye without putting too much pressure on it. Overtime the stress in your eye muscles gets reduced.

3. Isokinetic Exercises:

Isokinetic exercises are a must if you want to find quick and easy recovery. They are similar to aerobic exercises. The only difference is that these exercises are done at a fixed rate of speed. This boosts blood circulation to the eye and improves eye health over time.

4. Eye Massage:

An eye massage would be perfect for glaucoma patients. All you have to do is use your fingers and massage your eyes in a circular motion. Make sure your eyes are closed. The pressure should be very little, though. Place your thumb below your eyebrows and press for the next four seconds. Let it go. Repeat. You can also massage the centre of your cheeks for four breaths. Both these exercises are definitely going to provide you with some relief.
