8 Important Do’s And Don’ts Every Bride Must Know

4:43 AM

From a bride’s perspective, a wedding comes with a mixed bag of emotions. On one hand, it is the day she is made to want to wait for ever since she was a child, and it’s finally here. She has found her Mr. Perfect, her true love; but there is also a glitch – “Will he keep me happy?” And leaving the comforts of home, mom and dad, is the hardest part.

Then begins the planning – what to wear, how to look, and the pressure of keeping a check on weight, yet the excitement and anticipation of all the celebration. This surge of different feelings can really confuse you and weigh you down. What you really need to remember is that it is exclusively your day and your celebration. It is important to focus on yourself, and believe us, with so much going on around you, that’s the first thing you will forget.

So yes, here’s the list of Do’s and Don’ts for all you brides-to-be:

1. Do Make Sure You Go On That Last Date Before You Tie The Knot:

Not to undermine marriage, but they say that courting is the best phase. We would say they both have their own charm. So, going out one last time before you become Mr. & Mrs. is absolutely worth it! It will make for some great memories to look back at later on. And not to mention, amidst the entire wedding madness, both of you will get a chance to unwind.

2. Don’t Forget The Bigger Picture:

Weddings spell mayhem. You will notice that you have not been your best lately. But always remember, your wedding is just the beginning and life will start only after that. Make sure you chill out a bit. You don’t want your fiancé thinking twice about the whole thing. And trust us, the lead up to the wedding leaves a lasting impression.

3. Don’t Experiment:

No matter what those skin care products boast of, now is not the time to experiment. Make sure you do not try any new skin care products from three days before the wedding; you don’t want to have to conceal a skin rash on your wedding day.

4. Do Ask The Groom What He Wants:

Of course, it is your day; but it is his day too. Make sure you make him a part of the planning and ask him how he is doing or what he wants. He sure isn’t expecting you to do that, and believe us, that little gesture will make him the happiest man on this planet.

5. Don’t Starve:

You are getting married! Well, without a doubt, loosing weight is one of your top goals. But hold your horses. However determined you might be to eat less and workout more, it is probably not the best thing to do right now. Three days into your new diet, your body gets used to it and it slows down the metabolism. To add on to that, killing calories is killing a whole lot of nutrition that your body needs to maintain that inner glow. Eat healthy, exercise, but DO NOT DIET. Not now, at least. Remember that your fiancé loves you just the way you are.

6. Do Your Outfit & Makeup Trials:

We know you have too much on your plate, but be sure to do all your trials a week or two in advance. With makeup and hair, there’s a lot to be done. Make sure you patiently try out all the looks you need to sport in the appropriate lighting. Don’t forget to take pictures to see how it looks. That’s how all those beautiful memories will be captured. It is also very important to be extremely honest with your makeup artist about the kind of look you want to achieve. If you are simple, stay simple, or you will end up hating how you look on your big day.

As for the outfit, you need to make sure it looks great and fits snugly. Don’t get lazy, and make sure to TRY IT ON!

7. Don’t Overshoot The Budget:

It is very easy to go berserk and want just everything your wedding planner offers. Love doesn’t cost a thing, but everything else does. Make sure you, your partner, and the families sit together, prioritize and plan. Make budgets and stick to them. You shouldn’t end up burning huge holes in your pockets.

8. Do Be A Guest At Your Own Wedding:

It’s probably been months of planning, anticipating and analyzing, but the day is here, and it’s very important you are in the moment. Live and love every second of the ceremony. It is here and it is now! These moments will not come back. Be a guest at your own wedding and have as much fun as the others are having… or maybe even more.

We are sure you know that the happiest brides are the prettiest. Enjoy your wedding, and before we forget, Congratulations!
