4 Wedding Makeup Tips For Summer Brides

3:04 AM

What is a better time to get married than the summer when flowers are blooming, the breeze is swaying, and the birds are chirping? Well, that is a poetic picture, but getting married in summer essentially means you need sweat proof and waterproof makeup that lasts hours without appearing like flaking wall paint.

If you live in the tropics, you need to be extra careful of the humidity as it meddles with makeup. So the key to summer bridal makeup is to keep it natural and fresh. Would you like to know how? Read this post!

1. Base:

On this occasion, you want to be shine-free to stay fresh all day. It is inevitable that you will sweat in the heat, but you cannot look greasy. So use an oil free moisturizer, no matter what your skin type is. The moisturizers for dry skin will not help retain the matte look. Apply an anti-shine product before applying foundation. Use concealer on problem spots like blemishes or acne and around the eyes. After that, apply a thin coat of foundation. You may have very good skin with an even tone, in which case you can skip the foundation. But if you are using a foundation, opt for a very runny one. Very little of it is required to get good coverage. Seal the makeup with translucent powder.

2. Eyes:

If your eyeshadow fades away quickly, use a coat of concealer on your eyelids before applying it. This will help better adhesion. For those with oily lids, the anti-shine product can be applied to prevent caking of eyeshadow. Always opt for powder shadows instead of cream ones for hot days. If you feel the shadow is not strong enough, apply more than one coat to get the desired strength of color. Use a liquid liner to draw over your lashes. Once it has dried, brush a bit of sealer and finish with a cake liner. This keeps your eyes looking intense for long hours. Finish with mascara. Don’t wear false lashes for this long day. Also, make sure all of the products are waterproof because you never know when this special day makes you tear up.

3. Blush:

Use powder-based blush that can absorb oil. Cream based formulas are not meant for a long summer day. They can make your face look greasy and streaked. If you think your powder blush does not have enough highlight, apply a cheek stain first, followed by the powder blush.

4. Lips:

Start by scrubbing your lips. After that, moisturize your lips with a balm. Now apply a thin coat of dark concealer. Using a pencil, trace the outline of your lips. Apply lipstick on the lips and blot with a tissue. The final step is to apply gloss and a lipstick sealer.

A Few Tips:

  1. To keep your makeup shine-free, you may have to powder your face once in a while. Carry a small kit with you that contains powder, lipstick and blotting papers. Also keep some Q-tips in the kit to wipe up mascara or eye makeup streaks if they run.
  2. If you can, moisturize twice a day for a month running up to the wedding so that your skin is well hydrated and soft. But on the D-day, skip the moisturizer. This will prevent grease and shine.
  3. Say no to heavy foundation if your wedding is charted for a summer month as it can make you sweat more and leave behind ghastly blotches.
  4. Your makeup should be done considering the time of the wedding and how long it is going to continue. Standing in the sun for long hours or welcoming guests all day can take a toll on anyone. To avoid tired looks, keep concealer handy. Touch up at regular intervals to appear fresh all day.
  5. Opt for bold lipsticks instead of over dramatic eyes. This is because you can touch up lips quickly, but eyes can take a long time to redo.

These tips are straight from the big names in the fashion industry. Spending a fortune on the wedding preparations and being careless over your makeup can spoil the big day. Try these tips a few times before the actual day, and look no less than a stunner on your D-day.
