Lemon myrtle, (Backhousia citriodora) is basically a flowering plant, native to Australia. This tree grows up to a height of 60 feet. Other common names are sweet verbena tree, sweet verbena myrtle, lemon scented verbena, and lemon scented backhousia (1).

As the names say, it is heavily aromatic and has a characteristic taste. It contains about 90-98% of citral. It also contains minerals like calcium, zinc and magnesium in good amounts, as well as vitamins A and E.
