Yoga has countless benefits, as the modern day yogis never fail to remind us. It gives immense calm and peace while helping you look fabulous. That’s the new generation yoga for you. Sounds simple enough, don’t you think?

Well, it’s not. Those who swear by yoga will remind you how every goal requires an effort. Darn, how will I get my friends to like it and practice it with me if it’s difficult? As a yoga fan, there are many such things that only a fellow yoga fan will understand and identify with.

Here are some of them.

1. All Those Poses Aren’t Just For Stretching:

Ok, so yoga improves your flexibility. But, don’t judge poses based on how much you can twist and turn yourself like a coiled snake. Each one has its own benefits while allowing a satisfying stretch.

However, I’m going to state the obvious. They are not as easy as they appear. Certain poses appear simple and challenge you later. Certain others are sneakingly easy to perform, making you whoop and show off how good you are at yoga. With yoga poses there is always more to learn.

2. There Is So Much More To Breathing:

Forget what you know so far. Yoga re-teaches you how to breathe right. The techniques you learn and perform during a yoga session do wonders to your mind and body. Did you ever know there was so much to breathing?

3. Yoga Has Connections In High Places:

Practice it and yoga lovers will assure how it connects your emotions to the body, mind and environment. You can get to know your inner self and actually look younger. Drop fitness into the mix, blend it and voila! You’re preventing many illnesses that may hospitalize you.

4. Mind Over Matter:

Want to reign in those winged thoughts in your mind? No surprises here, but yoga lets you discipline your mind over trivial matters. It also develops the mind as a superior version of itself. In this version, you have lesser anger and stress.

5. Hey, Where Is The Enlightenment?:

Oh, we know this one. Didn’t you begin practicing yoga as an ancient spiritual tool to enlighten yourself? Unfortunately, we’ve ended up with a fitness obsession. Good or bad, I’m as clueless about enlightenment as the next one.

6. Modern Yogis Rock! They Don’t Bore You:

We’re a bunch of flexible, serene and happy yogis. There is no room for boredom or seriousness while we rock! Get the techniques right, but yoga can also make you smile. Imagine going into a deep trance with calming music in the background. Now imagine the music starts blaring accidentally. Oops?

If you consider falling down on your bums during a funny pose, I would talk about that too.

7. Interruptions Equals Embarrassing Situations:

If my fellow yoga lovers practice it from home, they know interruptions happen constantly. And they never get less embarrassing. You are on your mat tangled in a pose and someone walks in. Horrifying! Even the cat has a funny expression on. Doesn’t it ruin the zen mood?

8. Yoga Clothes Either Flatter Or Un-flatter you:

I agree they’re extremely comfortable. Yoga clothes are ideal for a yoga session. And yet, they look flattering on a fit form but extremely unappealing on overweight people. The tight spandex invites frank glances from those around and they also eat away your budget.

9. What’s That Smell?

One of the major grievances among yoga lovers is the lack of enough deodorant in the yoga studio. Yoga poses bring on thin lines of perspiration from the best of us. One half of the crowd is happy with their sweat. Unfortunately, the other half is not. Yoga lovers say to bring on the deodorants before we get sandwiched with a smelly smellerson.

10. Ah! Sleep Is My Savior:

I don’t know about you, but sleeping well brings out the good me. No sleep is no good for anyone. Yoga can surely help with sleeplessness – you can check with a yoga lover. We can prove it because at least one of us has fallen asleep during the corpse pose.
